Celebrating Coaches Who Move Us

Recognizing the mentors who inspire youth athletes to grow on and off the field.

Youth sports have become increasingly competitive, expensive, and pressure-filled, and kids are feeling it. A 2026 Aspen Institute survey found the average kid quits organized sports by age 13, not because they stop loving the game, but because the pressure around it takes the fun out. They are abandoning what used to be a place to set goals, build confidence, learn teamwork, and simply enjoy playing the game.

Yet, exceptional coaches continue to hold the line. They prove that kids can grow as players without losing what makes the game fun, encouraging them to improve while preserving their passion for playing. To support these essential leaders, Mazda is launching Coaches Who Move Us, an initiative designed to honor the coaches who keep youth sports fulfilling for kids and families alike.

At Mazda, we build vehicles on a shared conviction: every drive should be memorable. Great coaches bring that same spirit to the field every day, creating positive environments where young athletes build confidence, navigate challenges, and form lasting connections.

“Most of us can remember a coach whose impact extended far beyond the game,” said Tom Donnelly, CEO of Mazda. “At Mazda, we believe the best coaches shape more than athletes, they shape people. We’re proud to shine a light on the coaches who make a lasting difference in the lives of youth athletes and the communities they serve.”

Honoring Coaches Nationwide
Mazda’s commitment combines national recognition with meaningful grassroots support:

  • Honoring Local Leaders: The initiative launched with five extraordinary coaches from across the country, showcased on "Good Morning America," and honored with keys to a new Mazda CX-90 as a tribute to their community impact.
  • National Recognition: In partnership with TeamSnap, the leading youth sports management platform, Mazda will continue to honor youth coaches nationwide with vehicle awards and community support through direct nominations from the families they serve.
  • How To Nominate: From now through October 18, families can nominate an impactful coach aquí to be honored with a new Mazda CX-90. By celebrating these leaders, Mazda is helping ensure youth sports remain meaningful, inspiring, and fun for the next generation.
